Let’s look at the 2012 Grammy Awards…Now I know the criticism about the Grammies and it is let’s face it a popularity contest, but I still watch it. My wife watches it too. According to thatgrapjuice.net, it’s takes place on Feb 12. 2012, (that’s a lot of two’s) on CBS primetime. This is about the nominees: there’s Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best New Artist, Pop Solo (duo or group), Pop Vocal Album, Best Rock Album, and some others. There’s a lot I can’t write about them all.

Album of the Year nominees: 21 by Adele, Wasting Light by the Foo Fighters, Born This Way by Lady Gaga, Doo Wops and Hooligans by Bruno Mars, and Loud by Rhiana. Besides Foo Fighters the others are solo artists. I am a fan of bands, rock bands, I would love to see the Foo Fighters win it, but I don’t think they will I think Adele’s got this locked tight here. She’s very talented and even though she’s not part of my taste I have to say she’s a great artist. I wouldn’t be surprised if she won, but I want the Foo Fighters to win, let’s be clear on this I want them to win and they already have four other Grammy awards.

Record of the Year nominees: Rolling in the Deep by Adele, Holocene by Bon Iver, Grenade by Bruno Mars, The Cave by Mumford and Sons, and Firework by Katy Perry. Mumford and Sons should win! They’re not though; I think Adele has this again. People bought this record the most.

Song of the Year nominees, All of the Lights, by Kanye West, The Cave by Mumford and Sons, Grenade by Bruno Mars, Holocene by Bon Iver, Rolling the Deep by Adele. This is almost the same list as the record of the year. I’ve never found the difference between this award and the record of the year award anyway and this year proves it. It’s the same award just with a different winner. I think Bruno Mars has this, even though I don’t like him. He is the most popular. I would love to see Mumford and Sons walk away with this award too being the rock fan I am. There are folk rock and it’s a great song indeed so, I am hoping they win.

Best New Artist Nominees, The Band Perry, Bon Iver, J. Cole, Nicki Minaj, Skrillex. Now anyone of these bands could win it! It’s hard to tell who wins this award every year and it’s almost a surprise every time. So I say Bon Iver wins! He is the best of all of them! He is the most talented, even though he is not the most popular, he is a great artist, check out his work seriously, If you haven’t yet.

Pop Solo nominees; I feel like we have already had this category. Someone Like You by Adele, You and I by Lady Gaga, Grenade by Bruno Mars, Firework by Katy Perry, and F**kin’ Perfect by Pink. I choose Adele again.

Pop solo (Duo or Group) nominees: Body and Soul by Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse, Dearest by the Black Keys, Paradise by Coldplay, Pumped Up Kicks by Foster the People, and Moves like Jagger by Maroon 5. I’m gonna go with the underdog here and say Dearest by the Black Keys. Maroon 5 has is the dominant choice though.

Pop Vocal Album: Again another category I feel like I have seen before. 21 by Adele, The Lady Killer by Cee-lo Green, Born This Way by Lady Gaga, Doo Wops and Hooligans by Bruno Mars, and Loud by Rihanna. Cee-Lo gets this award he spanned the whole year with this album, even though it only had two singles, F**k You and Bright Lights. Cee-Lo deserves this award he’s been doing music for a long time too.

And last but not least, Best Rock Album: Rock n’ Roll Party honoring Les Paul by Jeff Beck, Wasting Light by Foo Fighters, Come Around Sundown by Kings of Leon, I’m with You by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Whole Love by Wilco. Now let me say this I’m sure they’re all great albums, but Kings of Leon win this award. They are the underdog here and they have a lot of fans. So, I think they are going to win. They’re a great band.

So, those are some of the nominees. It’s apparent that people love music and it shows. The Grammies are somewhat of a popularity contest though. Should be a good show though. They are always entertaining.
